The French Football Federation (FFF) has just published a press release on its website in which it announces that the Comex has taken the decision to stop, due to the current health crisis, all departmental and regional metropolitan amateur competitions. for the 2020-2021 season and to pronounce a white season (neither climbs nor descents).
Which championships are concerned?
The championships concerned are:
- Departmental and regional championships,
- National Championships (Division 2 futsal, U19 women, U17 and U19 national, National 3),
- The 2020-2021 edition of the Women's French Cup.
What are the consequences of this stop?
This decision of the Comex of the FFF results in a blank season for the teams concerned: neither ascent nor descent.
As a reminder, the measures taken by the FFF to deal with the pandemic during the 2019-2020 season were different. In a press release dated April 16, 2020, the Executive Committee of the FFF pronounced the end of the amateur championships (except the N1 and D1 women's championship) on March 13, 2020 (date of suspension of competitions), regardless of the number of games played, and announced the terms of accession and demotion of clubs.
What about the National 2 and Women's Division 2 championships?
The FFF specifies here:
"The situations of the National 2 and Division 2 women's championships, suspended by the Ministry of Sports, will be the subject of a subsequent examination with regard to the possible resumption prospects defined by the State, during the next Comex of the FFF."
