The Professional Football League (LFP) has decided to extend the ban release and termination clauses set out in article 202 of its Administrative Regulations at " touthe clause by which a party has the option of unilaterally terminating the contract ".

Indeed, the new wording of 202 article 1 " APPROVAL OF CONTRACTS FOR PLAYERS AND COACHES "of title 2" PLAYERS AND COACHES "of the aforementioned regulation henceforth specifies that:
" Any clause by which a party has the option of unilaterally terminating the contract is prohibited. Without this list being exhaustive, the following are prohibited:
- the so-called "discharge clause" providing for the termination of the contract by either party, in return for the payment of compensation,
- the so-called "resolutive" clause providing for the termination of the contract by either party, in the event of the occurrence of a defined event.
Any contractual document including such a clause and subject to the approval procedure will be rejected. "
Nullity of release clauses and disciplinary sanction
In addition, the same article now provides that:
" If this clause is included in an obscure document brought to the attention of the Legal Committee, it will be declared null and void and may result, for the signatory parties, in the disciplinary sanctions provided for in Article 4 of Annex 2. General Regulations of the FFF. "
