The Paris Bar has amended article P. 6.2.0.3 of its Internal Regulations: the term "sports agent"is replaced by that"sporting attorney lawyer".
The term "sports agent" is replaced by "sports attorney lawyer"
The Council of the Bar of Paris has voted to modify article 6.2.0.3 of the RIBP. In accordance with the provisions of the Law of March 28, 2011, the term "sports agent"has been replaced by"sports attorney lawyer".
As a reminder, the old article 6.2.0.3 of the RIBP, created in 2009, provided:
"The sports agent
Created by decision of the Bar Council dated March 17, 2009 (Bull Barreau de Paris, March 20, 2009, n ° 10); Modified by decision of the Council of July 6, 2009 (Bull. Paris Bar, July 17, 2009, n ° 25)
Before exercising the activity of sports agent, the lawyer must declare it to the President of the Bar.A register of sports agent lawyers is kept within the order.
In his activity as a sports agent, the lawyer remains bound to respect the essential principles and the rules of conflict of interest."
Compliance with the Law of March 28, 2011
Following the adoption of the Law of March 28, 2011, it was logical that this text be brought into conformity.
In addition, the Bulletin du Barreau de Paris N ° 17 of May 29, 2012 states:
"It is specified that as a result of this law, the new “sports agent lawyer” who can exercise all the missions and attributions devolved to the “sports agent” nevertheless acquires a much wider field of competence and activity.
In addition and unlike “sports agents” who are not lawyers, “the sports representative lawyer” is subject to the discipline of his Order, in particular with regard to ethics and fees.
For the legislator, the lawyer who can henceforth be a "sports agent lawyer" can no longer be a "sports agent" who, let us remember, comes directly under the discipline of the sports federations to which he has declared himself, a declaration that has not been made. more to perform "sports attorney lawyer"."
